About Me
Welcome! I’m Laura Lee Anderson, agented and traditionally published author, experienced editor, and professional actor.
After netting my agent (Uwe Stender at Triada US), my YA novel “Song of Summer” was released by Bloomsbury in 2015. I then started my freelance career in professional novel editing. Since then, I have worked with hundreds of traditional and self-published authors, meticulously refining their manuscripts and submission packages.
When my niece and nephew started applying for colleges, I discovered that my solid foundation in query letters and theatre auditions translated very well into College Admissions Essay coaching. They were both accepted into their dream schools, and the rest is history.
Whether you’re a new author looking to be traditionally published, a self-published author looking to polish before you publish, or a high school senior with a dream school in mind, I’m ready to help you take a confident next step.
With a BA in Theatre Performance and a minor in music from Huntington University, my foundation is in acting. Over the past two decades, I’ve acted in dozens of professional productions, from web sitcoms to full-scale musicals. In 2010, I co-founded Urban Impact Shakes, an urban youth Shakespeare company with my husband. Shakes ran for ten years, produced professional-quality shows, toured across three states, and performed for thousands.
My theatre background opened doors to present at various conferences, including Pennwriters annual conference, an ALA Conference, and (my favorite) my alma mater’s commencement in 2024.

Teaching at Urban Impact Foundation is one of my greatest passions. There, I mentor urban youth, teach acting classes, and sing.
I’m an Urban Missionary wife and mom to four incredible kids. When I’m not writing, acting, teaching, or mom-ing, I love snuggling with my dog, Princess Buttercup, drinking coffee, baking cookies, and reading bedtime stories “with all the voices.”
Everyone deserves to feel confident when they query their book, publish a novel, apply to college, or plan a conference. I’m here to help you put your best foot forward, so your next step is a confident one.
